Hello. My name is Sarah
I am a very experienced tutor and Class Teacher. My warm and friendly nature has enabled me to work with a number of different children, inspiring them to engage with their learning and make progress across a wide range of subjects. Having qualified in 2003, I have spent the past 15 years developing my teaching skills with primary - aged children from reception up to year 6. Since I was able to adapt to different year groups, I have been tutoring since 2015, both primary and secondary pupils where I am teaching English at key stages across all key stages: 1, 2, 3 and 4 Maths up to Higher GCSE level.
Tutoring Experience
Since 2015, I have been tutoring one-to-one and have a wealth of experience in SATS both Y2 and Y6. I then extended to KS3 and KS4 in Maths and English. Maths exam boards I cover: EDEXCEL, AQA, OCR exam boards and GCSE English – AQA board.
Having passed my newly qualified teacher year in 2003 in key stage 2 (my class consisted of years 5 and 6), I went on to develop my teaching skills in a variety of schools across all key stages one and two, with pupils from many different backgrounds. My adaptability to teach across all years , both as Class Teacher and a tutor, has enabled students to succeed. In addition, my pupils with special educational needs have progressed too.
My inquisitive mind, caring and understanding attitude has helped so many children reach their potential. It has been a pleasure seeing children succeed over the years and witness their growing confidence! I want to help more pupils by unlocking their individual potential.
Tutoring Approach
I offer a free 20 minutes meeting on my platform so we can get to know each other whilst giving both parents and pupils a chance to ask any questions.
Providing you wish to go ahead, I book the first lesson providing your child with a regular weekly slot. The first lesson involves informally assessing your child in the subject(s) they need support with. I then feed back to you where your child's strengths lie and where he/she needs support so you have an idea of lessons in the first instance.
I make my lessons engaging, interactive and I build a good rapport with pupils. I identify any 'gaps' in my students' education. I welcome questions in the lessons too whilst tailoring lessons to aid individual progress. Some of my pupils require challenges too. Pupils’ progress has been reflected in their moving up in sets in secondary maths and in test/exam results at school.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching pupils as I am passionate about their learning. I think my enthusiasm has rubbed off on many!
